The Canadian Fairtrade Awards recognize exceptional Fairtrade supporters, partners and allies, including retailers, traders, towns and campuses. Celebrate with us best-in-class Fairtrade performance! 

 

The Canadian Fairtrade Awards takes place annually with a formal ceremony where trophies are awarded by an independent panel of judges to celebrate noteworthy contributions of Fairtrade stakeholders across Canada. We’re delighted to let you know that the Canadian Fairtrade Awards 2018 will take place on Saturday March 2nd 2019, in conjunction with the national fair trade conference in Ottawa organised by the Canadian Fair Trade Network.

The deadline for applications for the 2018 Canadian Fairtrade Awards was November 28, 2018, so we are unable to accept any further applications.

Judges

Denise

Denise Byrnes: Executive Director of Oxfam-Québec

The first woman to lead Oxfam-Québec in its 45-year history, Denise ensured that her senior management team attained parity within one year and promoted and mentored women to take on leadership roles across the organisation. Her varied mandates within the international development sector include leading organisations as well as large humanitarian programs, both in Canada and in dozens of countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Kasha

Kasha Huk: Country manager of B Lab Canada

Kasha is working to grow and strengthen the B Corp movement across the country. Prior to joining B Lab, she engaged with international development agencies in Canada, Vietnam and Ukraine, working with multi-stakeholder groups to enact change and build stronger communities.

Kuldeep

Kuldeep Singh Chauhan: CEO of Fairtrade’s Network of Asia & Pacific Producers (NAPP)

Kuldeep has been associated with the Network of Asia & Pacific Producers (NAPP) since it’s inception in various capacities, including wide ranging interaction and work with producer organizations across Asia Pacific. He has supported the governance structure and operational work of NAPP, establishing and integrating producer led country and regional networks, resulting in a strong democratic organization. 

Shabnam

Shabnam Weber: President of the Tea and Herbal Association of Canada. 

Prior to her current position, Shabnam spent eighteen years in the tea business as an entrepreneur.  As owner of a specialty tea company, a tea school and a Director on the Board of the Tea and Herbal Association of Canada, she has a unique perspective on multiple angles of the tea business.  Shabnam values the diversity offered by all parts of the tea industry, both in Canada and beyond.
