Ways of working with Fairtrade

With so many ways to work with us, Fairtrade is good for business.

Why Fairtrade is good for business

More and more, consumers are making the switch to ethically sourced and labeled products. They want to be sure of the legitimacy behind claims, and have transparency into where products are sourced. An easy way to provide this is through trusted, independent, third party certification — Fairtrade.

The FAIRTRADE Mark is the most trusted ethical label in the world, according to recent independent research. Here in Canada, 85% of consumers who have seen the FAIRTRADE Mark trust it. More than 80% of Canadian consumers would view a brand they already buy more favourably if it carried the FAIRTRADE Mark. In addition 73% of Canadian consumers would recommend Fairtrade products to their friends and colleagues.

Through our rigorous Standards and increased supply chain sustainability, Fairtrade provides your business with an ethical, trusted and consumer-friendly way to improve the lives of the farmers and workers you source from. That's the power of you and your company to make a difference.

With retailers increasingly stocking their shelves with certified products, can your business afford to not be Fairtrade?

Ways your business can work with us

There are four main ways that your business can get involved with Fairtrade:

  • Become A Licensee

Apply to carry the FAIRTRADE Mark on your products.

  • Become a Trader

Traders are usually companies who sell unfinished Fairtrade products, raw materials and ingredients to other Fairtrade registered companies who are either also acting as traders or are licensees making a finished Fairtrade product.

  • Become a Retailer

Canadian customers want to know where their products come from, how they're grown or produced and by whom. Fairtrade Canada can help you in attracting this growing ethical consumer segment.

  • Fairtrade Sourced Ingredient

The Fairtrade Sourced Ingredient (FSI) model expands the ways in which farmers can access world markets on Fairtrade terms.
